Sickles Tickle Primroses

Primrose, the Nature Club of Sacred Heart College proudly reaped their reward at their coveted Harvest Festival: Land Paddy Harvest. Excited chatter of the team reflected their excitement. The college has a culture of agriculture: Principal brought out his personal sickle for the harvest.

This College with Potential for Excellence, by UGC Grading system today excelled its own excellence. “The best competition is with oneself with incremental improvements” advised Fr. Poulose Kidangan, Manager of the college, as he shared his nostalgia at the harvest festival. Principal Rev. Father Prasant Palakkappilly congratulated the members of the nature club for their whole hearted cooperation.
Dr. Dominic, who taught life’s lessons using this hands-on contribution to nature, advised the audience to do their best to protect ecology. More green activities are planned by the Nature Club, Primrose.

This land paddy project spanned 120 days from seeding to harvest. Primrose Club will serve “payasam” cooked using this rice, fruit of their labour, sweet sharing with everyone at the college.

Nature Club and Sacred Heart Alumni Association are to launch another green project: Waste to Wealth. Collaboration and coordination for this project will use Wiki skills. Sebastian Panakal & Lizy Navin, both Wiki Ambassadors of the Alumni held a seminar to explain this project to the day scholars during their presentation: Seniors Mentor Juniors.http://www.youtube.com/user/eschoolkerala?feature=mhum#p/u/6/fy3z8bXB_t8

eL4C49 Orientation Seminar

The concept and ideal of Open Education Resources was well received at Sacred Heart College. As a Wiki Ambassador, I invited the staff and students to join the WikiBuddy program. Rev. Father Prasant Palakkappilly, the Principal attended the program. Around 30 students too attended the program.

Wiki Ambassadors Lizy Naveen and Scaria T.C. too were there to support me. Scaria spoke of OER core values, Lizy spoke of advantages of Wiki as an academic tool.
As promised Sarah Stewart too came online. Wiki Ambassador Mathew Thambi, an Alumnus of Sacred Heart College spoke with Sarah on behalf of the staff and students of the college.

At the college we have started a "Seniors Mentor Juniors" program where the college will use their wiki skills to network and collaborate with the senior Alumni across the globe on Green projects.

Wiki Ambassadors Shiji Subodh, Reshma Suresh, presented OER values using Slideshare.

Reshma's friends Baseema and Ann Jessy from St. Peter's College attended the seminar online. Their excited Skype chat with Sacred Heart College students helped form a core team of Wiki Activists.

This team from Sacred Heart College and St. Peters College will introduce "A Gift of Knowledge" in all colleges in the state.

Students from both the colleges want to be Wiki Leaders. WE shall introduce Wikis in all colleges in Kerala, India.

Mrs. Rajitha Baiju, H.O.D., Department of Computer Science made the welcome address. Student leader Sony John did the Vote of Thanks.

Wallwisher - a tool to teach or to advertise

Hi friends,

I have just made a wall using Wallwisher, a vibrant wall to show off your digital portfolio. Here is a simple wall I made to promote my services. Below is a screenshot of the wall.

Any teacher can invite her students to use this wall for an online competition in content delivery.

If, as a teacher, you are trying to sell your service, why don't you look at this wall of mine?

I have also made an ePortfolio to market myself.

Wish to learn these? Call me on skype or add 'sebastianpanakal' as your skype contact
